Today, I was helping a friend/student figure out how to share an audio file. Basically, he wanted to share an audio with a group of participants from an event last Friday. In the past, he would just email an attachment.
However, the problem is that his file is over 12 MB, which is too big to really send as an attachment. Large attachment files clog up people’s inboxes and computers. So, instead of sending an attachment, I told him to follow these 2 steps to get audios off his computer, which saves space:
- Create a folder called “/audios” in his cPanel of his hosting service. Most people with a hosting service don’t realize that they have a huge amount of space for storage. Storing audios and videos is a great use of this space.
- Upload the audios he wants to share to this new folder (#1).

- Give out the URL for the audio. For example, one of the audios he wants to share is … http://jimeaglesmith.com/audios/tayatha.m4a. All he needs to do is include this link in an email.
- Add the Audio Player plugin on your WordPress website. Then, you can add the audio as a post or page. Simply, add a new plugin and search for then “Audio Player” plug in. Then activate it. Click the “play” button below to see how this same audio file can be played on a WordPress site like this …
